Hello friend! In this edition of The Nature of Invisible Things (TNIT), I am sharing a tarot spread I created for the Taurus New Moon on Tuesday, May 7th, 2024. It may be the most powerful spread I’ve ever created in partnership with the Queen of Pentacles, so I’ve made it available to everyone. The companion ritual to this spread, The Living Altar, will hit your inboxes tomorrow in time to work with this lunation.
Enjoy!
❤️🔥 The Truth of Your Desire
This New Moon in Taurus offers us a direct experience of the truth behind our desires and what we value. This spread knocked my own socks off and left me reeling on the floor but in the best way. It cracked me open to what I truly wanted and showed me what I could not see about myself. The power and impact of this offering broke up a lot of confusion and cloudiness. I feel so alive and inspired.
At a quick glance, it may not seem like much. But if you are honest with yourself, it will reveal the path to getting what you want—not what you think you want but what you truly desire. Reading this spread with a receptive heart is important, as it will pierce any confusion, but if you use it for self-flagellation, it could be painful.
It's important to note that desire exists within us for a reason, and if it weren’t possible, it wouldn’t be there in the first place. Our personal desires directly answer the prayers of others. As Clark Strand and Perdita Finn write in the WOTR, nature is an economy of prayer, and we exist as part of nature.
This spread has two parts. First, there are a series of questions I recommend journaling to begin with. This builds on the previous work we’ve done together through The Heart Talisman Ritual, The Seed Gathering Ritual, and the work on aligning our perceived values and actions through The Preparing the Ground Ritual. If you haven’t completed that, it's no big deal; it may take a bit more time to work through the journaling part.
Part One - Journaling
To get the most value out of this spread, journal your answers to these questions in your record of personal gnosis before pulling any cards.
What is my desire in the present moment? What symbol encapsulates it? What am I moving towards in my life? If available, refer to your personal gnosis record for your Heart Talisman.
What do I value? How are my values demonstrated in my life through my habits and actions? If available, consult your notes from Preparing the Ground.
Which actions, habits, or behaviors do I regularly engage in to bridge my present to my future, where my desire is realized?
What regular habits inhibit me from attaining my desire? How may these habits demonstrate outdated or out-of-alignment beliefs?
How does the realization of my personal desire serve others?
What powerful resources do I have access to that are available to assist me in achieving my desire?
Part Two - Tarot Pull
Take a few moments to ground and prepare your deck in a manner that feels good to you. Decide if you will read reversals; if you’ve never read reversals before, this is likely not the time to start, but you do you. Shuffle the cards with the intention to see the truth of your desire and lay them out as shown below.
Card One reveals what you truly desire
Card Two shows you the truth about what you value
Card Three explores habits that support your growth toward what you truly want and value
Card Four shows habits that take you further away from your desire
Card Five offers how the realization of your desire answers the prayers of the world
Card Six reminds you of a powerful resource that you forget to remember
Spend some time journaling about what’s been revealed to you in your record of personal gnosis. Pay attention to what surprises you. What is the most expansive and supportive way to interpret what has been revealed in each individual card and as a whole? One way to do this is to tap into the body and notice where your interpretations land and where they feel exciting and spacious versus constricting and anxious.
Stay tuned for The Living Altar Ritual, which is coming soon!

In episode fifteen of the TNIT podcast, I am joined by astrologer, writer, and teacher Britten LaRue. We all have those teachers who give us hard lessons; in my yogic path, we called them Saturnian teachers, and Britten was one of mine. Britten helped me learn one of the hardest lessons in my life, although it didn’t happen in the way one might expect. In this episode, we talk about it.
